How thigh contouring can help
Dr. Pancholi can address a variety of concerns through thigh contouring, depending on your goals and the procedure plan you select:
- Remove excess skin to eliminate “pooling” around the knees
- Lift sagging thigh tissues to restore a smooth, firm appearance
- Sculpt a more attractive, fit thigh contour
- Eliminate excess fat pockets from the inner thighs, outer thighs (“saddlebags”) or beneath the buttocks (“banana rolls”)
- Reduce fullness from around the knees
- Smooth the thighs and reduce cellulite
- Key Benefits
- Glossary
- Improved Thigh Contour: A thigh lift can significantly enhance the shape and tone of the thighs, creating a more contoured and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
- Reduction of Excess Skin and Fat: This procedure is particularly beneficial for individuals who have loose, sagging skin and excess fat in the thigh area, often due to significant weight loss or natural aging.
- Enhanced Body Proportion: By reshaping the thighs, a thigh lift can contribute to improved overall body proportions and balance.
- Increased Comfort and Mobility: Removing excess skin and fat from the thighs can make physical activities more comfortable, reducing chafing and irritation that can occur during exercise or daily movements.
- Improved Fit of Clothing: Many find that clothes, particularly pants and skirts, fit better and are more flattering post-surgery.
- Smoother Skin Texture: The procedure can also improve the texture of the skin on the thighs, making it appear smoother and more youthful.
- Long-Lasting Results: The results of a thigh lift are generally long-lasting, particularly if accompanied by a stable weight and a healthy lifestyle.
- Anesthesia: Medications used to prevent pain during surgery, which can be either general (inducing unconsciousness) or local (numbing a specific area).
- Compression Garment: A specialized garment worn after a thigh lift to reduce swelling, support the thighs during healing, and help the skin conform to its new contours.
- Excess Skin: Skin that remains sagging and stretched, often as a result of significant weight loss or aging, and is typically removed during a thigh lift.
- General Anesthesia: A type of anesthesia that renders the patient unconscious during surgery, frequently used in procedures like thigh lifts.
- Incisions: Surgical cuts made during a thigh lift. Their location and length depend on the extent of the surgery and the amount of skin and fat to be removed.
- Inner Thigh Lift: A surgical procedure targeting the inner thigh to remove excess skin and fat, often sought by patients with sagging skin in this area.
- Liposuction: A procedure that may be combined with a thigh lift to remove excess fat for more contoured thighs.
- Loose Skin: Skin that lacks elasticity and does not tightly adhere to the underlying muscle or tissue, often addressed in thigh lift procedures.
- Medial Thigh Lift: Another term for an inner thigh lift, focusing on the area from the groin to the knee.
- Outer Thigh Lift: A procedure targeting the outer thigh and sometimes the buttocks, addressing excess skin and fat in these areas.
- Postoperative Care: Instructions and care required after a thigh lift to ensure proper healing and reduce the risk of complications.
- Recovery Time: The period required for healing after a thigh lift, during which certain activities may be restricted.
- Scar: The mark left on the skin after the surgical incision has healed. Scarring is a consideration in thigh lift surgery and is typically discussed during consultation.
- Skin Elasticity: The skin’s ability to stretch and return to its original shape. An important factor in determining the suitability of a patient for a thigh lift, as those with poor skin elasticity may not achieve optimal results.
- Sutures: Stitches used to close the incision in a thigh lift, which may be dissolvable or require removal during a follow-up visit.
- Thigh Lift: A cosmetic surgical procedure that reshapes the thighs by removing excess skin and fat, resulting in smoother skin and more proportionate contours.
- Vertical Thigh Lift: A type of thigh lift that involves an incision extending from the groin along the inner thigh to the knee, suitable for patients with significant excess skin.
What are my thigh lift options?
Dr. Pancholi tailors his approach to best address your concerns and expectations and to achieve the thigh contour that will look most appealing with your natural proportions. Which procedure(s) he incorporates will depend on your anatomy and the nature of your concerns.
Medial & lateral thigh lift surgery
These are “traditional” thigh lift procedures in that they remove excess skin and lift sagging tissues on the thighs. A medial thigh lift focuses on the inner thighs, while a lateral thigh lift targets both the outer thighs and the buttocks. If you are bothered by loose, sagging skin that appears to pool around your knees or have excess tissues remaining after significant weight loss, a medial and/or lateral thigh lift is likely the procedure you will need to correct these issues.
Liposuction & VASER Liposelection
Liposuction, and VASER® Liposelection in particular, are among Dr. Pancholi’s specialties. He uses them extensively in thigh contouring. By carefully sculpting fat from the inner thighs, outer thighs, below the buttocks, and/or around the knees, he can sculpt a beautiful shape to the legs that enhances your entire lower body. VASER Liposelection has the added benefit of improved skin contraction: patients with mild skin laxity on the thighs often experience significant improvement in skin firmness without additional tissue lifting.
Thermi Non-Surgical Skin Tightening
Patients who prefer a non-surgical thigh contouring option might consider Thermi® treatments. Thermi is a minimally invasive, energy-based treatment that induces collagen production to achieve thicker, firmer and smoother skin without needles or incisions and with little-to-no downtime. While Thermi does not significantly change the size or shape of thighs, it can reduce the appearance of cellulite and achieve firmer, smoother, more youthful-looking thighs.
