My implant has deflated!!
At times, a patient may notice one of her implants has rapidly gotten smaller than the other side. If this happens to you, what should you expect and what should you do next?
If your saline breast implant gets smaller and softer, it usually means it has a leak. A feeling of headache or nausea is common and may last 24-48 hours. Some may feel a burning or rubbing sensation on their chest.
Often, this is from the implant shell rubbing and irritating underlying nerves. As the implant deflates, many times you can start to feel the edges of the implant underneath your skin. So now, where do you go from here?
Treatment is not an emergency, but we do recommend you call our office for early correction and priority treatment. This will allow you to have prompt implant replacement, prevent damage to your surrounding tissues, and also get you back to where you want to be.
There are many new options available to our breast augmentation patients and it’s a great time to find out what’s now available for you.
