5 Reasons Why Patients Choose Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty has long been one of the most popular cosmetic procedures due to its ability to significantly enhance one’s overall appearance. To avoid the cost and recovery time that comes with surgery, sometimes patients choose non-surgical rhinoplasty (also known as liquid nose jobs) over traditional nose jobs for a number of reasons, which Dr. Pancholi explores in this post.
1. Non-surgical rhinoplasties are minimally invasive
Instead of surgery, a liquid nose job refines the nose using dermal fillers, typically those that are hyaluronic acid-based. The fillers are injected in various strategic parts of the nose to create the desired look. It’s quick and has been called “the lunchtime nose job” because it can be performed in about 15 minutes. Since no incisions are required and it’s performed with fillers, recovery is quick and results are instant and improve as the swelling goes down. There is one caveat: your results will start to fade away as the filler is absorbed by the body (typically within 12-18 months).
2. Non-surgical rhinoplasties require no downtime
Unlike a traditional rhinoplasty, a non-surgical rhinoplasty requires no downtime. After your injections are complete, you can resume your normal activities and begin to enjoy your results immediately. Just don’t get your heart rate or blood pressure up for a couple of days. Without surgery, you won’t have to wear a cast, have any sutures removed, or worry about a stuffy nose for a week. There may be some redness and minor swelling within the first few days following your treatment, but this will quickly subside.
3. You can achieve stunning results from non-surgical rhinoplasty
Don’t just take my word for it—check out this patient’s gorgeous before & after photos! Notice how this simple procedure completely transformed her facial profile.

I was able to level the appearance of her dorsal hump and lift the nose tip to create a straighter, flatter bridge. Though filler can’t actually decrease the size of your nose (that requires surgery), it can give the illusion that your nose is smaller by filling in any depressed areas and balancing out the shape of the nose.
We can also use injectables in your cheeks, chin, and/or jawline to help balance out the appearance of your nose and improve your facial profile. And since dermal fillers improve the look and feel of skin by boosting collagen production, your newly glowing complexion will enhance your results as well.
4. A non-surgical rhinoplasty allows you to try out a nose job
Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, the results from a non-surgical nose job are temporary (typically lasting about 1-2 years), making it the perfect “training wheel” procedure for you to find out if a full nose job is the way to go. The one thing to remember when using the non surgical way is that we wont be able to show you a smaller nose, but you will see a more balanced nose.
I recommend my patients start with Juvéderm Vollure injections, which last about 12-18 months, to see if they like their results. From there, they can move on to a surgical rhinoplasty if permanent results are desired by dissolving the filler as soon as they are ready!

5. A non-surgical rhinoplasty can be less expensive than a traditional nose job
While our rhinoplasties cost upwards of $14,000, a non-surgical nose job is typically only a few thousand dollars. This difference in cost can be a deciding factor for many patients looking to enhance their noses. However, it’s important to note that because non-surgical rhinoplasties aren’t permanent, you may have to have regular maintenance injections annually to maintain your full results.
What are the downsides of a liquid nose job?
We’ve covered the benefits of liquid rhinoplasties, but what are the drawbacks? Here are a few:
- While a liquid nose job can give the illusion of a smaller nose, it can’t actually reduce the size of your nose, making it a poor choice for those wanting a smaller nose.
- A non-surgical rhinoplasty can’t repair damage from a broken nose.
- Unlike traditional rhinoplasty, a non-surgical rhinoplasty cannot be used to improve your breathing.
What are the risks of non-surgical rhinoplasty?
As with any cosmetic procedure, there are some risks associated with non-surgical rhinoplasties, such as vascular and skin complications. The nose contains a number of veins and arteries, and therefore filler injections must be performed carefully and strategically. Not all medical providers have the same understanding of facial anatomy so choose your provider carefully, making sure they have extensive experience with cosmetic injections for nose reshaping. By choosing a board certified cosmetic surgeon to perform your non-surgical rhinoplasty, you can be confident your doctor will have the aesthetic experience needed and prioritize your safety and satisfaction.
