Do I need liposuction or a tummy tuck?

Liposuction is first and foremost a sculpting procedure. By sculpting away excess fat, Dr. Pancholi can help a patient achieve the look of a bodybuilder, enhance an hourglass figure, create a fit, slender torso that looks great in a swimsuit, or even get a rounder, fuller butt—it’s all about your goals.

A tummy tuck is equal parts cosmetic and restorative. If you have sagging skin on your belly, or loose, protruding muscles after pregnancy or weight loss, a tummy tuck can address them both: the extra skin will be gone, and your abs will be firmer and flatter.

In many cases, Dr. Pancholi will combine liposuction and a tummy tuck for a 360º abdominal reshaping.

Which procedure option is right for you depends on several factors:

  • The nature of your issue. Are you primarily bothered by excess fat? Or do you have stretched, sagging skin or muscular laxity?
  • What you hope to achieve. Would you like a smoother silhouette that fits better into clothing, or do you want to restore a dramatically firmer, flatter belly?
  • What you can manage in terms of surgery and recovery. Liposuction patients can return to work within a few days and exercise within a few weeks, while a tummy tuck will require several weeks of downtime to recover.

If you’re unsure of which procedure you need—or think you may benefit from both—Dr. Pancholi can help. During your consultation, he will evaluate your areas of concern and listen to your goals to help you decide the best procedure option for you.
