Clarify, smooth, & rejuvenate your skin
It can be frustrating when your skin doesn’t look as soft, smooth, and flawless as the faces gracing the covers of beauty magazines. But think about it for a moment: from exposure to the sun and harsh weather to the toll of aging and genetics, your skin takes quite a beating throughout life. That’s why we are thrilled to offer IPL Photofacial.
A photofacial is a quick, gentle skin rejuvenation treatment that can help improve the appearance of sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and more for an overall healthier and more radiant complexion.

- Sun Damage: Skin damage caused by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays. IPL Photofacial can help address sun damage symptoms like age spots and freckles.
How IPL works to refresh your skin
IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a special technology that delivers intense pulses of selected wavelengths of light to the skin that allows for optimal skin rejuvenation. The light can stimulate skin to do such things as increase collagen production and shrink tiny blood vessels below the skin’s surface, to help lessen the appearance of redness, lines, and even acne in adults and teens.
What can IPL treat?
IPL focuses on the many structures that we see on the skin, but which lie deep under the surface. It can be a great option to treat freckles, sun spots, and annoying blood vessels on the face while providing a deep, gentle rejuvenation, improving the appearance of:
- Rosacea or facial flushing
- Vascular concerns, such as blood vessels and capillaries on the face
- Sun damage, such as sun spots and fine lines
- Hyperpigmented areas
- Enlarged pores
- Acne
IPL may not be a great option for those with dark complexions or tanned skin (including spray tans). Men may also find that IPL can result in hair reduction if the beard or mustache area is treated.
Your IPL treatment at Cosmetic Surgery of Las Vegas
It is important to meet with a highly trained and experienced skincare provider to ensure IPL is the right option for you. During a skincare evaluation and consultation, we will examine your skin, listen to your concerns, and help you explore your options to determine the best treatment plan for you.
If IPL is the best option to address your concerns, we will help you settle in one of our comfortable exam rooms. Your skin will be prepped and a cooling gel applied to the areas to be treated. We will begin passing the device over your skin. Many of our patients compare the sensation of the pulsed light to a rubber band snap, though anesthetic is rarely necessary and patients report that treatment is tolerable and anesthetic is rarely necessary.
Your treatment session may take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the areas being treated. After treatment, you may notice that the area is a bit red and tender, similar to a mild or moderate sunburn. This should resolve within a day or so, and most patients return to all of their normal activities soon after treatment.
Typically, two to four treatments spaced about a month apart are recommended to see optimal results. Most patients begin seeing an improvement in skin tone and texture after the first and second treatment, with sunspots, pores, and fine lines lessening in appearance over the course of a few weeks.
